Surviving travel with kids

These four words will make any parent cringe while traveling with kids in tow. If you’re headed out to visit family or friends over the holidays, avoid the backseat interrogation by making sure you’re prepared.

“It’s all about packing like a pro; bring everything you’re going to need and a little bit more,” says travel and style expert Amy Tara Koch, author of Bump It Up: Transform Your Pregnancy into the Ultimate Style Statement(Random House; 2010).

The mother of two—ages 7 and 11—Koch says parents should anticipate all “nightmares” that can happen. Here is her list of travel must-haves:
