Amy Tara Koch is a journalist and author who traffics in La Dolce Vita, specifically reporting on travel, food, and style.
She is a longtime contributor to The New York Times and also writes for The Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, Ski Magazine, Washington Post, Travel + Leisure, Vogue, T Magazine, Food & Wine, and Conde Nast Traveler. She has served as an expert on many panels and podcasts, including The New York Times Travel Show and the American Express Shaping Insights program.
Koch began her career in style, working at Paper Magazine. After moving to Chicago in 2000, she landed a column in the Chicago Tribune and became a style reporter for NBC/WMAQ, covering fashion and beauty trends. Koch also spent time as a family travel expert and Chicago-based expert for Travel + Leisure magazine.
In 2010, Koch’s maternity fashion book Bump It Up: Transform Your Pregnancy Into The Ultimate Style Statement (Random House) was touted by Glamour and Access Hollywood as the must-read pregnancy style bible.
In 2021, Koch began teaching journalism at her alma mater, The University of Michigan. She also serves as the Chairwoman of the English Alumni Board at that university.
Koch lives in Chicago with her husband and two daughters.
